Your opportunity

We're looking for a creative, talented and driven individual to craft persuasive, actionable and conversational copy for our educational organisation’s marketing campaigns (to attract new learners, engage existing learners and encourage continuing professional education in health and nutrition sciences).

As our Marketing Copywriter, you’ll get to write high-converting ads, email campaigns and landing pages that could pull in millions of pounds, and to script captivating promotional videos that keep viewers hooked and longing for more. This is an opportunity to share your enthusiasm for writing through producing compelling copy that moves and converts.

Your responsibilities include:

As a member of our marketing team, your job will be to leverage tested and proven copy and campaign templates, and then apply your skills and creativity to improve their effectiveness.

What you’ll be doing on a day-to-day basis includes:

  • Meeting with your teammates and Lead Copywriter in the marketing team to discuss campaigns, positioning and messaging
  • Familiarising yourself with our products, brand voice, target audiences and competitor activities in the market
  • Actively participating in creative meetings to brainstorm ideas and concepts for the words and visuals to be produced
  • Writing high-converting ad and email campaigns based on tested and proven templates
  • Writing sales-page and landing-page copy based on informational content delivered by our science educators and other team members
  • Preparing and editing direct-response emails, reports, video scripts and presentations
  • Working with the team to fully develop the copy for new campaigns – from emails to social media ads; optins to sales pages; videos to webinars; FAQs to saved replies
  • Revising, editing and proof-reading written content as needed
  • Analysing performance reports and improving campaign copy to increase effectiveness
  • Documenting and sharing best practices and “working knowledge” with others in the team (and company)

The work WILL be challenging… but it will NEVER be boring!

Your qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) on marketing, linguistics, pedagogy, psychology, journalism, science communication, education or similar from a top university, along with extensive writing experience.

NOTE: While we take into consideration your education, it’s not the only thing that describes your talents. If you think you can do this job, and you can demonstrate it in something you’ve done (previous marketing writing projects, sales materials you’ve created, marketing copy you’ve written), then we want to hear from you.

  • Strong sense of narrative, story-telling and persuasive writing
  • Outstanding command of both oral and written English
  • Excellent attention to detial (i.e. did you spot the typo?) and impeccable spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Natural cross-checking and proof-reading tendencies
  • Ability to quickly spot and fix inconsistencies in any form of content
  • Both analytical yet creative thinking
  • Organised with an ability to produce written content to the highest standards
  • Ability to adapt and improve methods of working so that any mistakes identified are not repeated
  • Love for marketing and interest in our subject areas is a ‘must’!

  • You can write the same message in 10 different ways. Compelling ways.
  • The thesaurus is your best friend. Always by your side.
  • You’re constantly searching for those little phrases and triggers that inspire someone to keep reading. You’re a super star at creating intrigue and capturing a reader’s imagination.
  • You’re fascinated by human psychology and what makes people do or say different things.
  • You talk in HOWs, not ifs, buts or maybes. You get things done. And you work with a smile.
  • Your attention to detail is second to none. You spot that needle in the haystack (or a typo) from a mile.
  • You know that punctuation can change the meaning of a message. You’re in love with the Oxford comma.
  • You’re a genius communicator. You have an ability to explain complex topics to a 10-year old who in turn successfully explains them to an 8-year old.
  • You love reading and writing so much, that you lose all sense of time and space when you are on it.
  • You’re passionate about helping others. You help your family, friends and always want to make time for others where possible.
  • You love collaborating and feedback (however harsh) is always welcome, either from your boss, a professor or your peers.
  • You’ll SAVE us time (not waste time). You are a quick learner and known for never repeating the same error twice.
  • When given a target or goal, you’re able to define the steps needed to make it happen AND you’re able to implement those steps yourself – even if everyone is on holiday.
