Jay was first introduced to the fitness industry 8 years ago when his previous employer deemed that his location was no longer necessary. This was a blessing in disguise, as Jay hadn’t been happy in that position for quite some time. Feeling like he was standing in front of the High School Guidance Counsellor being asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” – Jay took the time to reflect back on his life to a time when he was happy. This was when he discovered that he was happy helping people. He loved his job as a lifeguard, so he looked for something where he could make more of an impact on peoples’ lives. This is when Jay discovered the world of Personal Training. Jay was hired by GoodLife where he worked as a Personal Trainer for a year. He took the next step to becoming a Fitness Manager, which he still does today!
Jay got into the sport of Mountain Biking in Grade 9. In High School Jay was a competitive swimmer and last year he started doing XC marathons. With plans to continue his passion this year, they were postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak. He is still training and hoping that he will be able to compete come the Fall of 2020.
Jay says that being a Brand Ambassador with THSA has allowed him to expand his knowledge in nutrition and human performance. Which in turn has allowed him to better serve/motivate his clients and his team of Personal Trainers. He loves the impact that nutrition has on our bodies’ performance, function and mood.
