Caloric intake

The caloric intake required to maintain our body weight is often referred to as maintenance calories. The maintenance calories following significant weight loss need to be re-adjusted, given that the body will be lighter and needing fewer calories to operate. Our daily caloric expenditure will depend on several factors including gender, age, genetic make-up, body weight, body composition (e.g. fat-free mass), and regular activities.
